It’s weather, it’s food, it’s your Foodie Fork-cast!
Each week WVEC TV-13’s marvelous meteorologist Tim Pandajis joins us with his outlook ahead and we perfectly pair an eat or a drink for whatever Mother Nature has in store.
The Fork-cast after the Jump
TIM SAYS:
As we round out January it will likely go down as one of the snowiest on record. Yes it was cold but with several days in the 70s we will end up just a few degrees below average.
Our pattern looks to change heading into February. An injection of Arctic cold looks to build in from the north and a very active storm pattern will take shape bringing storm systems into Virginia every three-to-four days.
VAEATS SAYS:
What do you do during the stormy weather that Tim is predicting? You drink.
Try our DARK + YUMMY cocktail, a riff on the classic Dark + Stormy, but replacing the classic dark rum with a favorite Virginia whiskey, a Manassas-based craft distillery.
KO produces seven different products including a line of Battle Standard 142 gins and a line of Bare Knuckle Whiskeys. The distillery offer tastings of spirits, tours, bottle sales, special events and more in their KO Distilling Tasting Room and Banquet Hall.
One thing we love (besides the taste) is that 100% Virginia-based grains are used in all of their whiskeys including the Bare Knuckle American Wheat Whiskey, Bare Knuckle American Rye Whiskey, and Bare Knuckle Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
Here’s how to make the cocktail: fill a tall glass half full with ice and add two dashes of Angostura bitters. Pour in 2 ounces of KO’s Bare Knuckle Straight Bourbon Whiskey and 3 ounces of ginger beer. Stir, add more ice, then spritz with a lime wedge and garnish with lime slices.
